9 things I REALLY want for Christmas

I also wouldn’t mind if I looked like this.

A Good Night’s Sleep. I’ve been moderately to severely sleep deprived for about 5 and half of the last 6 years, there have been a couple of brief patches of reasonable sleep in that time. So, I’m not holding my breath to get it any time soon, but I’d love it.

A Holiday. Not even necessarily a holiday for me, a holiday for my family where I stay at home would work just as well. I love my family, I absolutely adore them, but along with a good night’s sleep I would also love to go maybe even just 24 hours without anyone touching me, asking me questions, interrupting me while I’m peeing, or telling me they’re hungry.

My washing to sort itself out. I’m really good at picking up the clothes from around the house, washing them, hanging them out, bringing them in – and that’s about where it stops. I feel like I’m perpetually drowning in clean, unsorted, unfolded, un-put-away, clothes. If clothes could just magically find their way from the washing basket to the drawers and wardrobes, that would be awesome.

To not have to think about dinner. I don’t actually mind cooking dinner, even the washing up doesn’t bother me, but I’m so over thinking about what’s for dinner. The whole menu planning and making sure everyone is happy and fed, and appealing to my family’s tastes, worrying about their diets and factoring in my own cooking ability – over it. So over it. I would love for recipes and foods within my budget to somehow manifest in my kitchen every night and I’d be more than happy to put it all together.

For Cake, Biscuits, Chocolate and Wine to be Calorie Free. You know that old Tim Tams ad where a young Cate Blanchett rubs the lamp and gets three wishes and asks for a packet of Tim Tams that never runs out and then for the next two wishes wants “two more of those”. SERIOUSLY? NO! You want that never ending packet of tim tams to be calorie free. (And wish number 3 should be a for large sum of money…)

A large Sum of Money. Enough Said.

My Own space to do what I want with it. I would really love a sewing room, but just a space where I can shut the door, either with me inside it alone or when I’m done in there so nobody goes in and touches my stuff or comments on the mess.

Ambition and Motivation. I do have some of this, but I find myself wanting more. I have the desire to achieve things but I often fail to follow through. I try very hard to be proactive and I can do it in short bursts but then the procrastination sets in and I wind up leaving everything to the last minute or putting it in my mental “too hard basket”.

More hours in a day. Or more hours in an evening after the kids go to bed so I can watch whatever TV I want, do something productive with my motivation and ambition AND eat my calorie-free tim tams, while still getting into bed before 10pm to enjoy my good nights sleep.

What Would You Want For Christmas if money (or reality) wasn’t a consideration?
