Baby Monsters Fresh Pram Review (Video Review)

Baby Monsters Fresh 2.0 Pram Review

A couple of weeks ago I wandered into Baby Train to have a look at prams (as I do) and I came across the Baby Monsters Fresh 2.0.

I’d never heard of this pram, or even the brand before, so I was very curious about it. Baby Monsters is a Spanish brand and it has only been available in Australia for the last couple months.

Straight away I was drawn to all the bright colours. (It comes in pink! I’m a sucker for anything that comes in pink!) But the clever features on this pram made me fall in love with it.

So, one thing lead to another, and I asked if I could borrow a Baby Monsters Fresh to review. And here we are!

The BIG Feature

It has some pretty cool features that I don’t normally expect to find all in the one pram.

  1. The main seat reclines fully flat, so it’s suitable for newborns. (A carry cot can be purchased separately though.)
  2. The seat is reversible, so it can be parent or forward facing.
  3. AND the pram can fold with the seat attached facing in either direction. (It also has a standing fold, which is pretty handy too!)

There’s a lot of prams either do point 1 and 2, OR point 2 and 3, but off the top of my head I can only think of a very small handful of prams that has all three of those features at once.

But “Weight” There’s More

The pram has a HUGE weight capacity of 25kgs! And it weighs 11kgs; which is a pretty average for a full sized pram. However the seat itself isn’t particularly big. I did put my 5 year old in the seat pram, who is nearly 25kgs, and she couldn’t fit her head underneath the hood. So your child will probably have outgrown the height seat before the reach the weight capacity.

That said the seat is definitely big enough to get a good couple of years or so out of it. Pictured above is a friend’s one year old in the seat (it was actually taken on her birthday!) and as you can see she still has plenty of room to grow in there.

It’s All In The Details

The Baby Monsters Fresh pram also has so many of the little features that I love in a pram. It has an easy one handed recline. An adjustable footrest and a telescopic handle. Though the range of the handlebar is only 100 cm to 105 cms, so it’s not a big difference in height. It has a big basket, and a big hood; the hood is made of neoprene which is basically wetsuit material, so it’s soft and stretchy. I love the colour range for the hoods. They come in pink, blue, purple, red, grey, sand and black. Also the hoods can be purchased separately if you do want to change the colour of your pram. It also comes with a rain cover and the little head comforter in the matching colour to the hood.

If I’m going to nit-pick the only thing I feel is missing from this pram is some kind of pocket. There’s no where to secure small items, like your keys, phone etc. But if little pockets are important to you then you can always purchase a universal travel organizer separately.

Super City Pram

While the Baby Monsters Fresh does have all wheel suspension and good sized 20cm rear wheels, it is mostly a city and suburban pram. It handled a little bit of light “off-roading”, it’s most suited to flat surfaces, like footpaths and shopping centres. The pram is 59.5cms wide, so you’re not going to feel like you’re taking up the whole footpath. And the seat is a perfect height for parking at a table like a chair, so it’ll be great for taking out to cafes and restaurants.

More On The Fold

The fold is very quick and easy to do. (Watch the video below to see the fold in action). It’s a littler easier to fold in the forward facing position. But it still goes down in no time parent facing. It doesn’t have an automatic lock on the fold, so you will have to latch it closed when you fold it if you want to lift it without it popping open. It has standing fold and also a handy carry strap. Also it is quite compact and fit very easily into the boot of my hatchback with heaps of room left for gear.

Final Thoughts

Even though the pram does feel solid to push it does make a bit of clacking sound as it rolls along. I also found the mechanisms a little bit stiff, especially the buttons for removing the seat – you have to really push hard on them to get them to get the seat to pop out. Though it’s fine once you get used to it. The RRP is $599, so it’s a mid-range pram. So, while might not be as smooth to operate as they are on other prams, ultimately this pram is still good value for money.

  1. I’m still interested in prams and strollers. I miss the pram days. And the only reason the stroller days are at an end is because we broke the one we had.
