MOBY EASY WRAP – Designed for New Parents

moby easy wrap

The Moby Easy wrap is – as the name would suggest – so easy to use! It’s comfortable, affordable and absolutely perfect for parents who like the idea of a stretchy wrap, but struggle with the actual wrapping.

The Moby Easy Wrap is a hybrid style of carrier, meaning it is somewhere between a wrap and a structured carrier. It is essentially a pre-tied wrap with a buckle waist band.

So the Moby Easy wrap goes on just like a T-shirt, buckles securely at the side, then ties around you baby – done.

The Moby Easy Wrap is suitable for newborns from 3.4kgs and has a weight capacity of 15kgs. While it’s suggested the Moby Easy Wrap could be used for toddlers, however, I think you should be able to use the Moby Easy Wrap up to about 1 year old.

The Moby Easy Wrap offers parents two carry positions – inward-facing for a newborn and forward-facing when Baby is around 6 months old. This is all most people are looking for in a baby carrier anyway.

If you are looking for a baby carrier that will last a bit longer (more like 2-3 years) and offers more carry positions, then maybe a more structured carrier like a Moby Move might be more suitable.

Sweet, Simple, and Safe

While there are a couple of other t-shirt-style carriers on the market, the thing I love about the Moby Easy Wrap is even though it is super simple to just slip on and go – you do adjust the carrier to fit you and your baby. So you will be able to quickly and easily tighten the Moby  Easy Wrap to ensure your baby is positioned safely and correctly each and every time.

I also believe that a brand new parent with no experience using a baby carrier should be able to buy an Easy Wrap off a shelf, take it home, and put it on – as long as they glance briefly over the instructions – that should be able to put it on correctly.

I think this is partly due to the overall shape of the carrier and the design of the waistband and back support. It seems nearly impossible to position this incorrectly, and once you’ve got the waistband on properly, everything else just seems to work.

Moby Easy Wrap VS a Classic Wrap

As much as I love the Moby Easy Wrap for new and inexperienced parents, I do personally prefer using a regular stretchy wrap. Like the Moby Classic, Evolution or Elements Wrap. However, using a stretchy wrap, which is essentially just a 5.4 meters long piece of fabric, is a skill that takes time and practice to get right. Whereas, as I’ve said above, I think most parents will be able to put the Moby Easy Wrap on correctly the first time.

If you think you might be interested in a stretchy wrap check out my Moby wrap review which includes a video review showing how to put on a stretchy wrap (these instructions work for all stretchy wraps, not just the Moby range.)

Moby Easy Wrap VS Moby Cloud Hybrid

moby easy wrap vs hybrid

As someone who is a little obsessed with baby carriers when I compare these two carriers I feel a little like that iconic scene from “The Devil Wears Prada” – you know the one:

“It’s a tough call, they’re so different.” and then someone who’s not quite so deeply invested in this space snort laughs from the other side of the room.

And I get it. They are very similar, they are both hybrid carriers, they are structurally quite similar. Though the style, aesthetic, fit and feel is quite different. Even the way they go on is a bit different.

Though, I have also noticed after showing both of these carriers to a number of people it seems like everyone has a firm preference.

If I was choosing for myself, I would probably pick the Easy Wrap. It’s a little quicker and easier to put on. The fabric feels more like a wrap. And I prefer the way it feels on me.

However, the Cloud Hybrid is lighter weight and more breathable, so it’s going to be better for summer babies and active parents. It does look a bit more polished. It’s more structured – so it’s more supportive, so I think you’ll be able to use it with a bit bigger baby. Perhaps even with a toddler, up to more like 18-24months. If you’re happy to carry a bigger bub like like on your front.

So it really does come down to your own personal preference between the two.

Final Thoughts

I love that the Easy Wrap exists now. I have spent quite a lot of time in the past helping new parents learn how to use a regular stretchy wrap, because they LOVED the idea of using a wrap – the fabric, the feeling, the closeness you get from a wrap that isn’t quite the same in a structure carrier. But sometimes it’s just too hard. Stretchy wraps aren’t for everyone.

As I said, there are a few other similar t-shirt/wrap hybrid carriers style of carriers, but this is the first one that I think is a safe and supportive alternative to a stretchy wrap.
