Outdoor play

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly a grumpy, bored or unsettled baby can be calmed and settled by simply taking them outside for outdoor play. Nature provides a wide variety of different sensations and experiences.

The feeling of a breeze on their skin, the sound of wind through trees, reaching out and touching leaves, and bark, or looking at birds can be very engaging and entertaining for a little baby. You might want to take baby to a park or to a botanical gardens, but just your own backyard or a slow stroll down your own street can have the same effect.
