Saucy Thermomix Bolognese that Kids Will Love!

Saucy Thermomix Bolognese is a one-pot wonder has hidden veg that your kids will never suspect and a cheeky secret ingredient. Okay, it’s not very secret because a- I’m telling you about it and b- it’s a very Australian addition to Bolognese sauce that’s been around for yonks.

Ingredients:

1-2 cloves of garlic
1 large or 2 small carrots, roughly chopped
1 large or 2 small zucchinis, roughly chopped
1 small onion, peeled and halved
1 tablespoon of olive oil
Herbs- dried or fresh- of whatever kind you like in a Bolognese. I like parsley and oregano.
500g beef mince (Turkey, pork or chicken also work)
1 heaped tablespoon of thermomix veggie stock paste (use tomato paste if you’re out of stock)
1 400g tin of tomatoes, crushed
1 400g tin of (secret ingredient) condensed tomato soup (I like Heinz)
300g dry pasta- spirals or shells are good, but long pasta can be broken up and used.
About 350g of water

Method:

Put your garlic and veggies in the thermomix and blitz for a few seconds on speed 8. Add your olive oil and chopped herbs. Sauté (so that’s with the measuring cup thingy off) for 5 mins/100deg/Speed 1-2.
Pop in the butterfly.
Now, the mince. Since the beginning of time (or something) thermomixers have been arguing over the best way to cook mince in a thermomix. Some say not at all, some say it’s easy-peasy. This is how I do it. I break up the mince so it’s in little lumps and bang it in on top of all my sautéed veg. Then I cook it on reverse for 8 minutes/100deg/Speed 1. Once that bit is done, I take out the butterfly and use the spatula to break up any lumpy, mincey bits.
Then add the tinned tomatoes, veggie stock and soup. Cook again on reverse for 5 mins/100deg/speed 1. Now add the dry pasta and water. You might need to poke the pasta down if you’re using the long stuff. Now, bang it on, still on reverse, for 12 mins/100deg/speed 1.
You’ve done brilliantly so far, why not reward yourself with a glass of wine while it cooks? You deserve it.
Once it’s done, serve it up, whack some cheese on top if you like and then enjoy some saucy pasta goodness!
