Uppababy Minu Review – Miniature Pram With Big Features

The Uppababy Minu is a lightweight and compact pram. The fold is super easy! It folds with one hand and it goes down in just seconds!

I’ve previously reviewed the Uppababy Vista 2018 and the latest Uppababy Cruz, and I’ll start by saying that Uppababy make beautifully designed, and easy to use.

Travelling with the Uppababy Minu

The Uppababy Minu weighs just 6.7kgs, which is absolutely a lightweight pram. Though I’m not sure if I’d recommend it purely as a travel pram. (For travel prams check out the Best Travel Pram 2018 and Best Travel Prams 2016).

While in some ways it is comparable to the Babyzen Yoyo, or the Baby Jogger City Tour, the fold isn’t compact enough to fit into the overhead locker on a plane. So if you do take the Uppababy Minu travelling you will still need to check it in with your luggage.

That said, it does come with a handy travel bag.

Perfect For Urban Living

So I feel the Uppababy Minu is more of an Urban everyday pram. Being light, compact and also narrow the Uppababy Minu will feel quite at home zipping around busy city streets. And with it’s super quick fold and handy carry strap, it’s an ideal pram for popping onto public transport, or carrying up to an apartment.

Alternatively it would be great pram to keep in the boot of your car, as it takes up very little space, even in my smaller car (Kia Rio). So the Uppababy Minu would also suit shopping trips.

The Uppababy Minu also has reasonably good sized wheels for such a small pram, so while it’s definitely not an all terrain vehicle, it’ll definitely handle some moderately suburban terrain. Like footpaths, roads and parks.

Some great features of the Uppababy Minu

• Full grain leather handle
• The fabric feels really sturdy
• Beautiful to push, even with a large child in it
• Extendable canopy with the sun viser and the peekaboo window
• It has a handy little pocket at the back
  The basket is very accessible from the front and back, but it’s not very deep. So I feel like it’s a great basket for putting a nappy bag in, but not really designed for loose items
• It has push to engage and push to release brakes, however they’re on different sides of the pram and I personally feel like I would struggle with that a little.

Uppababy Minu is designed for bigger kids

It does have a one handed strap recline, however it’s not a full recline so it’s not suitable for newborns without either a travel system or cocoon type bassinet attachment for your newborn.

The weight capacity is 22kgs. The space under the hood is incredibly tall, my six year old fit under the hood. However she was too tall for the shoulder straps. So I’m going to say this pram is going to manage up to about four to five years, depending on the height and weight of your child.

One thing to be aware of, the handlebar isn’t adjustable, and it’s a pretty tal pram. I’m 165cms tall and I found the handlebar fractionally higher than I personally find comfortable. So the Uppababy Minu may not be suitable for very petite, or even very tall parents. I think that’s one factor that is worth checking out the Uppababy Minu in store so you can make sure the handlebar height is going to be comfortable for you to push!
