Pre-School Story Writing

story-writing-2If your child is starting to retell and make up their own stories they may enjoy this story writing activity.

Ask them to tell you a story while you write it down. Quickly write in as they tell it, trying to get their words as accurately as you can – ask them to repeat back to you if they’re going too fast.

Next make a little book by folding a few A4 pieces of white paper together and write one sentence or idea on each page then retell their story back to them page by page and encourage them to illustrate each page.

Depending on your child’s attention span it may want to bring the book out a few times to illustrate, or they may be happy to draw every page and finish it all in one sitting.

In the end you should have a picture book “written” and illustrated by your own little author!

Sugar Free Banana Cake (Also Dairy Free!)
